About Us

From the rolling hills of Ulundi, a historic heart of the Zulu Kingdom known for its heritage of strength, grace, and timeless artistry, emerges a creative force redefining modern cake design — Chef Gugu Mazibuko.

Guided by the quiet elegance of his roots and an eye for refined simplicity, Chef Gugu transforms each creation into more than a dessert — it’s a statement of class, balance, and beauty. His work blends African-inspired artistry with a minimalist, contemporary edge, producing cakes that captivate both the eye and the soul.

At the core of his philosophy lies a belief that true sophistication is found in simplicity — and every masterpiece leaving his kitchen embodies that truth with flawless precision and understated luxury.

Baking runs through Gugu’s veins — a legacy passed down through generations. His earliest inspiration comes from his maternal grandmother, uKhulu uMaZulu, whose banana bread recipe he still treasures and uses today. His mother, too, filled their home with the warmth of freshly baked cakes, lovingly decorating every birthday creation for him and his sister. Though baking was a family passion, Gugu would become the first professional baker and cake artist in his lineage, transforming that inherited love into a distinguished craft.

In 2015, he earned his Patisserie Diploma from The International Hotel School, graduating as a Pastry Chef. His journey then led him through the prestigious kitchens of Elangeni and Maharani Towers and the Durban ICC, where his skill and precision deepened before founding his own brand in 2016.

Over the years, Chef Gugu has crafted countless celebration cakes — each one a story in sugar and artistry — but it was in wedding cakes that he found his true calling. To him, a wedding cake is more than a centrepiece; it is a symbol of love’s elegance, unity, and timeless beauty — a moment of joy captured in edible art.

From intimate celebrations to grand occasions, Chef Gugu has been commissioned by renowned corporations, celebrities, government officials/departments and distinguished clients, serving each with diligence, trust, and gratitude. His signature style — elegant, classy, and refined in its simplicity — continues to define a new era of modern cake artistry
